Apparently Appleton 17 “Legend” is launching tomorrow. Does anyone have any guess where we might acquire one of those 1500 bottles for a split?

Take a 17 year old fut that’s lying around and ask yourself how you’re going to sell the content for 7 or 8 times more than your usual products of the about the same age…
One good marketing move later and you’re done…
Clearly without me because I’m pretty sure it’s a normal appleton, but with 17 written on it instead of 12/21 or whatever year…

WHAT?
Few rum countries capture the imagination as much as Jamaica. And in Jamaica, there are few distilleries with such an eventful past as Long Pond Distillery. After almost 250 years of history, the distillery was bought up in 2009 and became part of the National Rums of Jamaica, only to close again in 2012 due to serious leakage in the dunder tanks. A reopening followed in 2017, to be confronted with a massive fire barely a year later inwhich 65,000 litres of rum went up in flames. Fortunately, a lot of rum that was maturing elsewhere survived. So did Spirits Project’s new bottling: a Long Pond from the year 2007 and bottled at a more than solid 66,6%.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
The first sip makes it brutally clear: this is no rum for wimps. Powerful, hot, peppery and full-bodied: this is a rum that will put hair on your chest. But this Long Pond is much more than that. Once that first sip is gone, and you’ve rubbed the tears from your eyes, it breaks open in all its finesse. Not an unsubtle ester bomb like you sometimes find in Jamaica. But subtle exotic fruit, a minty freshness and perfectly integrated wood.
Did we mention that this will put hair on your chest? Morethan that: this is the kind of rum that makes pirates have one eye. Solid, full-bodied, in-your-face, and at the same time so layered with an array ofsubtleties. For lovers of Jamaican rums who do want a bit more than just an esters-à-gogo festival.

Hm, die Verkostungsnotiz klingt jetzt nicht soo toll: Der Alkohol treibt einem Tränen in die Augen, aber zur Belohnung gibt es… nein, keine Ester, ein paar subtile Früchte, etwas Minze aber dafür so gut wie kein Holz. Hä? Alles ganz subtil, außer der Alkohol, der ist voll auf die zwölf?

Haha, das hab ich auch gedacht als ich den Marketingtext gelesen habe. Ich habe trotzdem mal angefragt. Wenn ich eine Flasche bekomme mach ich einen Split auf.
