Pouring high-strength rum into the cask and quickly pulling it back out before the angels can take their share is cheating in that regard.
Even if it was filled with still strength (does anyone know how Clarendon usually does this?), the cask must have been stored in a very dry location.

Under very dry storage conditions, the alcohol content can also increase.
