Upcoming rum releases

Bielle aged in Chambord casks. Thoughts?

If I am not mistaken this is “just” a rare type of a french oak cask.

Im wondering what’s the reason for this being the first ever Rum in such a cask. What do they know what the others don’t?

In any case, it definitely sounds interesting.

Edit:
Reading their description this seems just to be a marketing-stung. Available since 2015, only using wood staves (cut) by hand, according to time-honored rules. 100 Casks per year available in the first year (what does this mean for 2023? We don´t know.). So I don’t think that this production process has any noticeable effect during aging.

Also correct. But I think that the Bielle ageing refers to the casks that @Lot-NAS mentions in his post.

 but what will be the price?

Btw, Mike Barbaria (the man behind Swell de Spirits) went on Facebook for a little contest along Swell fans, asking what type of release we would want to see in the future.

Although everything should be taken with a grain of salt, here are a few things he said and can be considered as teasing for 2024 :

  • the Mexican High Ester that some of us tasted at the Rhum Fest Paris will be released soon

  • a lot of people begged for a rum from Ste Lucia and a HERR Savanna, which, considering the demand, could be an interesting selection for Swell as they haven’t bottled anything yet from those regions.

  • when a fan asked for a Long Pond High Ester, Mika replied « how about a New Yarmouth 2009 ? » which could potential lead to a new NY release

  • it seems also that an old Demerara should be on its way soon

  • Mika seemed also interested (as well as some people) to make a collaboration with Mhoba (but there is a huge gap between dreams and reality, let’s see how it goes)

  • when @MikeH asked for an Enmore 1994, Mika said « why not » (fingers crossed @MikeH )

Considering it’s a rather young Hampden I don’t think it will be hella expensive, but be sure that if you don’t order the bottle at 9:00 pm exactly. The bottle will be gone in a minute :joy:

It’s 2012, so OWH. For me that means no reason to chase it. :man_shrugging:

Though a true statement for the vintage, we could actually be surprised by the quality or even the mark (not impossible there are many marks for a same vintage) let’s see how it goes

Oh, it’s a 2012. No need to chase it then. The last 2012 I bought was interesting but not worth the bottle purchase.

Holy cow, these are def not made for drinking with such a price tag.
I do not understand why the 1994 with only 52,8% should be even more pricy than the '96.

Das sind Flaschen die wohl nie geöffnet werden, oder von Leuten die zu viel Geld haben und damit prahlen wollen wohl

Haven’t tasted it yet to be fair. But I will ask the Carsten, maybe he know a little more.

I had the Elizabeth Years in the meantime and I’m sure it’s not a PM. I guess. Those Whisky Agency Diamonds are just that, Diamonds. But thanks for asking!
