Recommendations for the 1995 vintage

Hi everyone,

I’ve started a new rum journey of acquiring bottles from the 1995 vintage, as that is the year I was born. I have used the filters in the app to look at all 1995 bottles, but I’m curious to see what all of your favourites are in this vintage. Bonus points if it is “affordable”, comparatively.

Some tasting notes that I enjoy in aged rum, in no particular order: (straw)berry, overripe fruit, yellow fruit, chocolate, mint/menthol, tar.

So far I have snagged a bottle of:

  • Appleton Hearts 1995 RX7800
  • Precious Liquors Clarendon 1995 RX13091 (from RA yesterday!)

And due to budget constraints a 5cl sample of

  • Velier Enmore ELCR 1995 RX753

What should I look for next, once the paycheck comes in? Any samples that people can offer me from 1995 rums to guide me?

Thank you!
Matthijs

So far, I have had 3 Clarendon from 1995 and they were all great:

Agree with Florent, first choice would be any Clarendon EMB 1995.

They are typically tropical aged and have fantastic, intense flavor profile

My favorite from the vintage (also my birth year) is the RX13412.

As a Hampden fan, I’m somewhat disappointed that there’s no 1995 model.

At least I haven’t been able to find one yet.

Are those three a different mark then RX13091, which I bought yesterday?

So many Clarendons! 1995 must have been a good year for them. Thanks, and keep them coming!

I ordered mine from there a couple of months ago. Though it was a bit cheaper (around €250).

I haven’t found it anywhere else since.

There isn’t one there either

Hi… lots of great rums. I could also add RX1975, which I personally really enjoyed. Otherwise, I’m also a big fan of RX13412

Thank you all! Some of these are still a bit outside of my budget, my most expensive bottles are 260 and 220 euros, the rest is a fair bit below that. But I will keep coming back to this page and have added them to my wishlist.

If anyone else has a rum to add, feel free to still do so!

If you’re more on the agricole style (maybe some molasses involved) this would be my suggestions

I’ve had my eye on that Basseterre already. For the right price I will buy that. Thanks! Good to have some cane juice options.

With the 1995 Clarendon, particularly as a PLV at Brett Bottleshop and fine drams, you can’t go wrong. Otherwise, if you can still get them, here are my remaining highlights from the vintage:
