Upcoming rum releases

Conclusion:
Great opportunities to save a lot of money from this year on!

Well I d like it, but that Ricci pricing has been out of this world since the beginning. And obviously Bristol is taking part in the game of thrones now with their diluted and heavily overpriced stuff :see_no_evil: Of course there are others like Rodolphe said, but Velier for example is Velier, which is rum top tier (no matter if you like their recent releases or not) and not some 2nd grade IB like Bristol is nowadays in the rum universe.
I just wonder, whether someone is actually buying this kind of stuff. I mean, I don’t think dealers like Rum Depot like having this bottles standing around for long, but then again they bought the release and listed a diluted 98 Caroni for over 700 :scream:

I think, I am with Gunnar here, hoping I will save money this year! (and rather spend it on important stuff like rare sneakers…no)

There’s also the 1998 Caroni from Distillia with Lion’s whisky (if I’m correct) for €850… I fear that the bar is once again set on a higher level :man_shrugging:

As long as bottles are sold within minutes after release, this trend wont stop.

Not sure they really will though

But these Familie Ricci and Bristol stuff isn’t sold out within minutes. Destillia is a different story probably. Somehow they have the standing to get even their most expensive bottles sold it seems.
Besides this you are right anyway.

Bristol 1997 Clarendon 47% for 400 (!!!). Waddefuk?!

That one left me speechless also :joy:

But: Description at rum Depot says it is a Column Still… so technically it is a rare release… so you really have to have this in your Clarendon Collection… right? RIGHT?!

Compare this to the NRJ column monymusk mbs at (close to) cask strength with tropical aging which is still available today for 100 :rofl:

Last year i was already spending more and more on armagnac and cognac…i am unfortunately pretty sure that this year it will go even more in this direction for me…though cognac is getting already quite expensive aswell

I’m partly with you on Armagnac. But here, too, a significant price increase can be observed for good and flavor-intensive bottles.

However, I find rum, with its enormous range, still as one of the most interesting alcohols.
Although I find it increasingly difficult to find very good affordable bottlings.

No doubt about the remark on rum…it is the best spirit in the world …but finding good quality is complicated these days…either you have to buy blind and realize that you spent too much or you taste here on a bottle split and then it is too late to find the bottle if you liked it.

Yes Cognac is already really expensive compared to Armagnac and even to some other rhums. But it’s still possible to find “small” cognac of local producers that are nice and with attractive prices (very good XOs for around 60€).
