RumX2: Support for performance troubleshooting

The completely redesigned version of RumX is now available in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store as an update! :partying_face::rocket:

From a few users I got a hint that compared to the beta version the performance has degraded. Especially when switching between Xchange and Xtend jerks occur.

On my test devices I can not recreate this behavior and therefore troubleshooting is difficult.

I would like to ask you to participate in this survey and if you also experience this problem, please comment with the following information:

  • Operating system version: <e.g. iOS 15.2.1>
  • Smartphone: <e.g. iPhone 12>
  • RumX version: <e.g. 10.0.8>
  • Where do the jerks occur?

You can find the information related to your device in the device settings: General > Info.

This way I can isolate the problem faster and fix it quickly. Thanks for your support! :pray:t3:

  • Whole UI is lagging each 1-1.5s, not matter what - scrolling, transitions, loading circle… it all pauses for a split second

Bei mir leider auch das Ruckeln alle 1-2s, nachdem ich auf Xtend bin. Davor ist alles flüssig (also nach App öffnen)

Due to the lack of reproducibility on my test devices, I am somewhat in the dark. But I have implemented a possible solution in the new update v10.0.9.

Does the behaviour still occur there?

Ich habe gerade einen Rum eingegeben und seitdem läuft die App wieder normal :face_with_spiral_eyes: Merkwürdig!
Mal schauen, wie es weitergeht

@Oliver hast du mal auf einem iOS Gerät mit wenig RAM getestet bzw. generell die Speicherauslastung geprüft?

Ich hab zwar kein Performance Problem (iPhone 12 Pro Max mit iOS 15.3) allerdings hatte ich während der Beta und jetzt auch schon einmal mit der finalen App einen kompletten Crash und zwar immer dann nachdem ich aus dem Xtend Tab aus der App gegangen bin und dann wieder zurück.

Eine Idee wäre daher zu hoher RAM Verbrauch bei sehr großer eigener Flaschenanzahl.

Oder kommen die zeitverzögert?

In der Suche wird der Präfix “RX” noch nicht berücksichtigt. Man kann also nur direkt nach der Nummer suchen. Habe ich im anstehenden Update gefixt. :raised_hands:

Eingehende Likes werden derzeit mit einem “Pull to refresh” in Xchange aktualisiert. Den Mechanismus optimiere ich in einen der nächsten Updates noch. Zudem gibt es demnächst wieder (optionale) Push-Benachrichtigungen bei Community-Reaktionen.

For me (iphone 13 pro, ios 15.3 uploaded just right now, app v10.0.9), everything is OK (but alreay for former iOs before I uploaded).

The new version v10.0.15 is now available in iOS and Android. There I have implemented many performance improvements - especially in the feed. Have you noticed a reduction in jerkiness as a result?

Hi Oliver,
mittlerweile läuft bei mir die App stabil und fast komplett störungsfrei!
Lediglich erfasst die Aktualisierung bei der Seite exchange nicht immer neuen alle Tastings! Nach 2-3 Neustarts ist es dann wieder auf dem neuesten Stand!

Tritt das Aktualisierungsproblem auf, wenn Du das klassische “Pull to refresh” einsetzt. Also den Screen ganz nach unten ziehst. Oder wenn Du auf den grünen “Reload”-Button im Feed klickst (dieser wird automatisch angezeigt, wenn Du zum Feed zurückkehrst und es Neuigkeiten zu Laden gibt.
