short answer: no.
long answer: also no. this is a pure status symbol for rich people. same with these 50-70 year old whiskies that are beeing sold for 20k-70k. They don’t taste any better than the top shelf “ordinary” stuff (and maybe even worse). these market prices are fueled by a bigger fools scheme. the buyer hopes that he will be able to sell at a higher price in the future to someone more stupid than him. The juice itself is not worth it.

Well, the rum seems interesting from reviews and I enjoyed every SWR I’ve tried. I’m definitely curious how it tastes and would love to try it but i prefer to try 1000 other different rums for this price.

wäre hier (und bei dem aufgerufenen Preis) auch etwas skeptisch. Die Chairman‘s Reserve Abfüllungen, die ich bisher richtig gut fand, waren allesamt John Dore 1 / Vendome Pott Still Abfüllungen…

Ja, seh ich auch so. Bei Dore und Vendome hätt ich als Chairmans-Fan gleich zugeschlagen, aber speziell zu Coffey Column Still fand ich bisher auch noch keine Bewertungen …

I was at the rum store yesterday and the manager told me that he really loved the Renaissance rums. They received 3 different ones. I’m pretty curious about them but I won’t buy a bottle blind.

I believe, someone should not get fooled by the ‚just‘ three years in the barrel. The one for Romdeluxe was fermented 15 days, with added dunder, a double distillation in pot stills, and the white oak cask was charred at maximum stage in the ISC classification (leading to the ‚alligator skin‘). This all led to a very intense and deep rum! I would actually love to try more Renaissance bottlings!
