Greetings
My name is Dima and I live in Kyiv, Ukraine.
I guess my favorite for a while was Velier Nine Leaves Last Drops 2023, and I intend to try Velier Magnum Series #3 Cristina de Middel Edition, all of 4 Hampden Estate rums at once ![]()
My introduction to rum happened in much the same way as my introduction to whisky a long time ago — after a bad experience with something cheap and overly basic that left a rather unpleasant impression.
With whisky, however, I eventually managed to overcome that prejudice and ended up diving quite deeply into the category. Rum, on the other hand, remained something I approached with caution for a very long time.
I tend to believe that everything deserves a second chance — and rum turned out to be exactly the kind of second chance I never regretted giving. My proper journey began around the middle of last year, when Scotch slowly started to feel a bit repetitive and I found myself wanting to discover something new.
*First rum tastings
Step by step, rum completely won me over with its diversity: raw materials, origins, terroir, fermentation styles, production methods, maturation — the deeper you go, the more fascinating it becomes.
*How its going
For about a year I was mostly a silent observer on RumX, and only recently decided to register and start participating once I realized that I actually had something meaningful to say about certain releases and producers.
I’d be glad to discuss with community rum, whisky and other spirits ![]()
