Did we ever come to a conclusion about Velier demeraras with four holes on the capsule? Just received a Diamond 1981 from RA that has the four holes and not sure if I should be feeling worried.

Only picture of the top of a Diamond 1981 capsule I’ve been able to find is from 1981 Velier Diamond 31y 60.1% | eBay
which has four holes. Hoping to find a few more capsule pictures in case it’s just a feature of this specific bottling.

I saw one once, but don’t remember where.

Four holes is a bit strange but not conclusive, I guess.

There was a more serious problem with that rum. It was a post in this thread by @MoparRules the 17th of June. He opened it and it was an obvious fake when tasted.

There another 4 holes Diamond 1981 here.

Maybe the 1981 does indeed have different capsules?

The 1999 has the usual 2 hole thing

Just my 2 Cents:

Not sure about Rum, because I haven’t seen these bottles so far, but I believe this is quite usual with capsules on Wine:

Why do some wines’ foil capsules have little perforations at the top? (winespectator.com)

The article only mentions one or two, but I have definitely had wine bottles with 4 holes as well.

Thanks. That’s 3 out of 3. While not conclusive, I’m starting to feel pretty confident that the 1981 Diamond just used a four hole capsule.

Hat mir evtl. jemand ein Bild von der Kapsel (einer verlĂ€ĂŸlich originalen Flasche) des Velier Diamond 1996 SSN rx1444 ?

Hab gerade eine Flasche erstanden und wĂŒrde mich gerne etwas sicherer fĂŒhlen :wink:

Nein, kein akuter Grund. Aber wollte bezĂŒglich der Anzahl der Löcher in den Kapsel eine BestĂ€tigung

Karton und Flasche sind meiner Meinung nach echt. Box und Label sind adĂ€quat gealtert. Bleibt aber immer die Möglichkeit der NeubefĂŒllung. Da ich noch nicht weiß, wann aufgerissen wird (und es wird!) wollte ich sicher gehen, dass ich RA so frĂŒh wie möglich kontaktiere sollte es denn – unerwarteterweise – nötig werden

Took a look at my Diamond 1996 SSN and, it too, has four holes in the capsule. Everything in the box and capsule looks ok, so I think it’s just a feature of some of the Velier demerara bottlings.

Keine Angst, der wird aufgemacht – warten noch auf das Sample und dann wird probiert. Dann heißt es aufreißen – oder im schlimmsten Fall tauschen und dann aufreißen. :v:
