Anything in Budapest ? 🇭🇺

Hello there !

I will be in Budapest for a couple of days in April, has anyone been there and has some recommendations when it comes to rum (bar, cavist or whatever) ?

Kind regards,

Going to be in Budapest over the weekend, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask again: Any recommendations for great bars or rum shops? :grinning:

Well, I have been there in April for a couple of days.

There is not much to say about it, maybe that’s why we had no reply at all :joy:

Rum is definitely not in their culture and the few shops I saw were selling very basic stuff, so nothing interesting for rum enthusiasts like us.

You will find there their local alcohol called Palinka…. Not only it tastes awful (to me at least) but I can guarantee you that the hangover hurts a lot in aftershock :joy:

Hi!

Some five star hotels have in their bars some better cognac/whisky/rum offer. :slightly_smiling_face:

Unfortunately, there is too little solvent demand for special rums in Hungary. At least, that’s what distributors think. Most restaurants and bars don’t venture above the Zacapa XO level either. In addition, the legislation is catastrophic, it is practically impossible to buy from outside the EU. In defense of pálinka, I can only say that the same is true for all types of spirit, there are both poor and excellent ones.
