Careful with the reviews here, almost every rum has a few 9+ reviews. Doesn’t mean it’s great considered to your own standards. I always dismissed that expensive Don Papa as total marketing bs, but now I’m curious. Why is it that expensive? It’s not especially old as far as I know. Just to pay for the manager salaries?

Ja, ist speziell, mir gefällt er. Wobei ich weniger an Obstler als an Honigbrot denken muss. Hochprozentiges Met würde ich mir so vorstellen

Unternehmen kann man nichts, war darauf bezogen, dass manche den als besten Rum bezeichnen. Das sagt halt wenig aus, für jeden Rum findet man vermutlich jemanden der ihn “am besten” findet. Bis hin zu dass der PR-Praktikant vielleicht auch mal bewertet 
Im Ernst, ich glaube eine gute Bewertung auf rumx ist mittlerweile viel Geld wert.
Flasche Don Papa für einen Split oder worauf bezog sich das? Wenn ja, dann nein.

It’s not marketing bs. The RRP was below or around 100€. Heck, an Italian flipper shop had it for 170€. The reason why the pice exploded is because there are 500 bottles worldwide. So relatively few of them circulated and there seem to be people who collect Don Papa and have deep pockets (or so much disposable income) that they don’t care shelling out two grand to complete the collection. The quality of the juice will never justify that price.
The reviews so far are not representative. Two 9.x from two (presumably) brothers with weird taste (or even an agenda?!), 3 of 4 reviews from people < 10 reviews total, one 0.1 hater review from a guy with exactly 1 review. Anyone could bump the total score to 9.4 with just one single review >= 9.4
The problem is, it’s just too expensive for people to open it at this valuation*. At RRP I would gladly try it in order to contribute to setting the record straight/improving the review situation – who knows, maybe it is great. But for 1k+ … not even a sample.
