New rum purchases

I really do love the artwork on some of those Silver Seal bottlings!

Thanks to the Belgian connection with @Tom , it arrives at à final price of 230€ (150€ bottle + shipping, 70€ vat & taxes, 10€ additionnal shipping from Belgium). When I ordered it, I thought the Vat & taxes should bé around 40€ and the bottle under 200€… I Hope it’s good, that’s part the most expensive bottles I’ve ever bought for myself

The VAT & taxes are outrageous :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I’m hearing more and more of these post-Brexit stories. I can’t imagine the UK being the beneficiary in the long run compared to the rest of Europe…

Anyway, it was my pleasure to help you out!

Yes its outrageous, just consider yourself lucky that you live in Europe where these good rums are mostly available anyway, I have to pay similar amounts of taxes every time I Import rums into Australia, which I do quite regularly from UK and Europe.

I am very much aware of our luxury position in regards to rum all things considered. It would probably not be my hobby (at least not in the same way) if I had to pay about 50% extra each time  My hat’s off to you good sir

The whole brexit saga just affects us more directly since not before long we could freely import stuff.

Yes sorry i dont want to sound like a winger, im just lucky enough to be in the position to be able to indulge in such things i guess. The biggest problem is that there isnt the market yet in Australia for the importers to get properly invested in bringing in single cask indie rums into the country. We do see a few, probably better then Canada, they have it really tough by the sounds

So you can become the first “real” importer of quality rums in Australia, spread the holy rum message and indulge even more? :innocent::sweat_smile:

If you’re on facebook, Rum Club Canada is a really nice rum group and it gives a good view about the hardship they have to go through. But the alcohol market is very much controlled by the government over there, what makes it harder indeed.

Haha now thats an idea😄. there are a few guys that are trying whom i support where i can.
Thats the main thing, trying to open peaples eyes a bit regarding proper rum so the market expands.

This beauty just arrived from Babo Wine :slightly_smiling_face:

And even though BW is located in San Marino which is outside EU, thanks to the customs union delivery went quickly and without any issues or additional costs.

Once again proof how valuable such a customs union is, especially considering all the annoying trouble some of you guys had (and still have) with your MoM order. Hope you will get that issues solved soon :tumbler_glass:

Btw: Thanks again @RareAkuma for the tipp!

FYI: they don’t send bottles from San Marino, but proxy them from Rimini. Or atleast that’s how they used to do it.
