Nice suggestion, for some reason I completely overlooked this one!
Are there other suggestions that are comparable?

p.s. Welche Abfüllung? 03/2022 oder 10/2022

Die kenne ich beide nicht. Ich meinte Seailles 1986 Fass #3

Edit: Ach so … Abfüllungsdatum. 03/2022

Yes, gran torino or Le’Gust. It seems that some guyana stocks from 2002 were mixed with Caroni barrells (Hello Caroni 23y [RX147](https://rumx.com/en/rums/147/) stored in Guyana). I think Big Mama [RX13468](https://rumx.com/en/rums/13468/) is mixed with Caroni as well.

There has been a lot of speculation about these bottlings, but nothing concrete can be said to date. It remains conjecture. Be that as it may, in the end they are all comparable (including the rum you mentioned) and cheaper than the Caronis.

In his book about Caroni, Steffen Mayer concludes that as the small column, the fermentation yeast and the exact recipe (mark) are lost, it’s virtually impossible to recreate Caroni. And I think we can trust him here.

That’s my understanding as well. Even with all the right ingredients and personel it would be a major challenge.

I think it has been done in the past, I think it was Beenleigh or some other Australian Distillery. But all the stars have aligned for that one, including the original distillation expert having saved deep frozen yeast (out of nostalgia, initially).

Yes, the yeasts are gone for good, there is no point in recreating it as it is doomed to fail. On top of that, I think people seem not to realise, that the caroni casks were not profitable. They were heavily dried up in storage and sold at what some people in Trinidad felt was robbery. I think if you do the actual math I think it is rather impossible. Plus, there is a lot of okayish to outright bad caronis. If you want an example of how hard it is, take Hampden. They are struggling to reach the excellency they can reach on a broader scale.

Here is the link to the article I meant in relation to robbery: [Crying over Caroni’s evaporated aged rums | Trinidad and Tobago News Blog](https://www.trinidadandtobagonews.com/blog/?p=11204)

> One cask, for example, yields 275 cases

What??? Isn’t it more like 275 bottles?! Or 400 bottles if diluted? Makes me question the whole math of the valuation 🤨
