Rather muted in the nose, slightly watery mouthfeel (both by cask strength standards) but in terms of complexity it’s a generous step up from most standard bottlings of aged agricole. I wonder how representative of the average cask in La Favorite stocks this is. Is this in some way special or unusual, or could you pull a random 6-8yo ex-bourbon cask from the warehouse and get something of similar quality? I’ve long wondered how the standard VSOPs & XOs would taste bottled at higher strength (50%+, same cask selection), I like many of them, but they all feel overdiluted. I wish aged agricole was treated like Bourbon when it comes to bottling strength. Make 45% the minimum strength (beyond the absolute bottom shelf), 50% the standard (there’s plenty of affordable Bottled-in-Bond Bourbons, similar to the common 46% in Scotch), and liberally jump to cask strength (e.g. Wild Turkey Rare Breed). ---

For anyone interested, I really recommend trying the set. You can even take one set and split it into 5 to have 2ml of each, but I can tell that each cask really gives a different result. Even though the rums are young, the influence is there, and for the sake of the experiment it’s worth it. ---
