NEWS: Oli goes YouTube šŸ’„

I thought so too, especially since I’m currently transferring some really old RumRatings ratings . It’s quite interesting to see how some bottlings were perceived when someone tasted a profile for the first time.

Is there any way to sort the tastings so the oldest one appears first? Then I could answer your question for you

Scrolling through ~2000 tastings right now is a bit too stressful for me

A personal note about the rating system:
I prefer to use Rum-X via PC/desktop.
That works well for this forum (so I’m relatively active here), but not for the Rum rating system.
The app and thus the login is (to my knowledge) only accessible via mobile phone/tablet.
Personally, I don’t like to write as much on mobile, and I also prefer to view most websites via browser (and browser login) rather than apps.
I only log in via the app every few months, so accordingly I ā€œcan’tā€ participate in the Rum rating.

Sounds like a nerd problem.

I was just barely able to scroll through mine.

Glad you like the format. Feel free to write and let us know what other behind-the-scenes analyses would interest you. I’ll add that to the roadmap. :folded_hands:

Can the statistics also be used to determine which distilleries generally offer a good price-to-rating ratio?
And which of these, despite being reasonably available, remain stable but are not particularly frequently purchased and rated?
In other words: Good hidden gems and discovery recommendations?
(Of course, a minimum number of ratings is also necessary to rule out statistical rating errors from small samples)

Of course, this would have to be broken down by rum categories. Unaged rum, even with outstanding ratings, is significantly cheaper than long-aged rum with average ratings.
Because of the different preferences across rum categories, not everyone would necessarily go for a Pere Labat 59 (€25, 8.0 points, 100 ratings) despite its good price-to-rating ratio.

Today we’re doing another deep dive behind the scenes. How the Match Score came about and what’s behind it:

What do you think of these Ā»RumX DeconstructedĀ« formats? More of them or would you rather see top lists and such again? I’d love to hear your feedback in the YouTube comments.:tumbler_glass:

Hi @Oliver the link doesn’t work for me.

I always end up at Don Papa.:face_with_peeking_eye:

I’ll explain the Match Score using that one.

Sorry, my mistake.

I thought an interview was coming.

But it was still good, I didn’t rate some samples since a 4 or 5 wouldn’t make a difference to me anyway. But if it leads to better results, I’ll include those in the future too.

Thanks

Best regards,
Armin

Since so many of you asked for Guyana as the next guide after Jamaica, here’s the deep dive for it today:

It’s incredibly exciting what I was able to work out from all of your tastings. I’m looking forward to your feedback and the comments on YouTube

It’s a great video, very good job! I always like especially to see recommendations for beginners, besides El Dorado and Pusser’s.

Incredibly well-produced video. Hats off! Even as a nerd, I learned a ton of new things! :ok_hand:t3:
I actually noticed pencil shavings the most with continental aged Uitvluigts and at Versailles of course as well. And ED Skeldon/Albion are absolutely the PLV monsters of the entire Rare Collection series and absolute delicacies in my opinion. Very cool video Oli! And thanks for featuring the Bellamy 2012 Guyana which is also a REV by the way :raising_hands:t3:

As the next country, I’d be most excited about Trinidad!:trinidad_tobago:

The first Ā«RumX on TourĀ» video just came out. Jakob and I tried to capture the impressions of the Whisky Live Paris for you and give you a Ā«we’re part of itĀ» feeling.

What do you think of the new format? Should we do something like this again in the future or stick with our proven data analyses? I’m looking forward to your comments on YouTube

I really liked the vlog style, hope to see more in the future on other events, or why not at some distilleries!

I really liked the video as well. What I think worked well, was the switch from location to studio/living room for information about the bottles you bought.
This can also be done for explanations on distilleries or processes, it doesn’t always have to be bottles.
But that is a nice way to tie it into the regular videos.

Awesome video and great format! Love Maxime’s comment comparing RumX to the PokĆ©dex :joy: as a former PokĆ©mon nerd and fan, I think the comparison is spot on. Maybe I’ll have to check out the WLP 2027 after all :grimacing: everything there already looks so sick!
And your scratchy voice on day 2 is beautifully authentic! :joy::tada:

I probably would have taken the eminente with me, but also very likely the new Velier Jamaica STCE2005  I’m already really excited to try that one! Shakara 21 also really appeals to me!
