Today I noticed the user Norbert Kohler (unfortunately the link doesn’t work).
He rated quite a few top rums with 0.1 (e.g. RX3502) and thus shifted the average rating of some rums (with still few ratings) down by several points.
Whether it was a mistake or done intentionally, I cannot say. However, it is striking that he regularly gives top ratings (up to 10.0) to A.H. Riise and Don Papa.
Unfortunately, he did not respond to my personal message.
Isn’t there a way to prevent these individual ratings from significantly negatively affecting the overall picture?
Outliers are filtered out to avoid precisely this effect. We were mindful back then of this exact phenomenon — that individual users might try to “boost” their favorite rum with a 100/100 or, as in this case, “downgrade” other rums for other reasons.
I mean, only the most extreme rating in each direction is excluded from the average rating. For the rum you showed, Pavel Spacek with an 84/100 is now the lowest-rated user. The 1/100 also isn’t displayed for me in the graphical overview of all ratings.
He is just a rum beginner.Yesterday I gave my father to try Rhum J.M 55,8% for Kirsch and he made Grimaces .I do understand green horns in rum and their taste, as they aren’t used to rums over 40%, especially unsweetened ones .To them, they mean just a high ABV alcoholic drink, no matter what is tasted.
I guess he wants to make a Point or just some trouble. Proof that nerds are just full of shit and he knows it all and sweet is the way of the Rum. He never ever tasted those rums.
There are those kind of guys everywhere. In my past it was Main Stream Hip Hop vs Underground Hip Hop . I don’t know it, so it must be bad
And when RumX get’s more popular more fools will follow
Exactly. Because the community rating has been using the median instead of the classical average for several years now, the score is very stable against outliers. Individual extreme ratings don’t move the score at all.
If you see such fake reviews, you can report them via the app and also leave a negative reaction. If enough community members flag a post, we review it. If a misleading pattern emerges here (tasting frequency, account age, no tasting photos, inconsistent/no comments, …), the reviews are set to private after manual review and are thus removed from the community rating.
Profile sharing doesn’t actually work…
That’s seriously unprofessional behavior from this guy — rating all 45 items and deliberately giving all the good stuff 0.1 across the board to mess up the score, while rating all the sweet stuff 8.0-9 and up.
He got 45 angry emoji ratings from me and I reported him too — something like this really can’t go on.
You’re welcome to do the same, hopefully someone like that gets kicked out of the app quickly…
It’s really sad to see stuff like this.
The pattern is clear. Even if he’s not a fake — which I actually do think he is — what he’s pulling here is pure harassment and completely intentional.
