🆕 The biggest update in RumX history is coming

I’m also undecided at the moment about what I think of it. Maybe it’s a matter of habit, but I also find myself searching for some things more than before.

What bothers me is that when I click on a link, I always have to go back twice to get back to where I clicked the link (Android, mobile)

Where do I find the birthdays :birthday_cake:  :tada: ???

Thanks! That’s exactly what I was about to ask too :confetti_ball:

I haven’t been able to do much with it yet, but at first glance: awesome look and feel! I need a few more days to really test it, some things feel a bit «clunkier» now, like finding and copying links to a thread. You have to get used to it.

I’ll take a closer look at the shopping section right away.

During the tastings, before the update you could always see your own rating right away, now I have to click on the rum and scroll down a bit. I thought it was better before.

Ah, I just remembered: I’m definitely in favor of photos at tastings. For one thing, it supports the credibility of the tasting in my eyes, and personally I always look through the pictures if, for example, the rum doesn’t have an official photo yet so I can read up on more information

One more thing about that. Sometimes when I click on a link, I end up outside the app somehow, or something, and I can’t get back at all. It looks like this

I have that problem now too.

Thank you!

What do you mean by “find and copy links to a thread”? Then I’ll check how I can simplify that. :folded_hands:

Never mind — it was a Layer 8 problem. The burger menu in the bottom left didn’t appear right away, it only showed up after I scrolled all the way to the top. I tested it a few times and it’s working perfectly now

iOS also worked on the phone now, version 26.0.5. I think it’s well done, everything is pretty intuitive. But I still use the forum in the browser (not in the app), it’s not working right now anyway

I’m bringing up the issue again.

When I click on an RX link, I’m basically taken out of the app and into the browser:

The “back button” doesn’t work then and I have to completely restart the forum.

Interestingly: if I repeat the procedure, i.e. click the same link again, then I stay in the app.

If I then close the app completely, everything goes back to how it was in the first step. :person_shrugging::sweat_smile:

I can totally confirm that!!! Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I can’t find that overview again where I could see how many rums I had from a distillery/country/independent bottler. Is it gone?

You have to go to « Collection » then « Statistics » then « Tastings » then « overview »

I like the new shape of the user interface, the 5 menus are the main core of the app and stand as they should be.

Honorable mention for the Social part, which organizes very well all the community aspects with the tastings, the forum, the bottles splits (even though they are already on the forum, that’s a fast paced feature) and the rankings among the community (which has been built thanks to us partially).

The Search section is also good, I like how things can be sorted out after the filters as well. I guess it does require time to get used to it with all the menus and buttons, it’s slightly overwhelming at first glance but I’m still getting in touch with it but so far I like it. It’s smooth and helpful.

I like how many details have been put for the distilleries and the countries, that really gives insights about rum history and terroirs for everyone, to have not just a bottle database, but also all the other backgrounds and the lore, that’s excellent !

One thing I would point out though, is the rum datasheet, it does feel a bit overwhelming as well. In my opinion, the Origin & Data section should be above the rest, above the aromatic profile so that we have all the technical features at first glance (just like in a book) and then all the feedbacks from the community (and our own tasting).

I gotta say that I also prefered the previous data visualization, with the 2 columns, the images for the raw material, the distillation and the casks were more visually attractive to me. I also noticed that the app shows you 3 key data from the rum, but sometimes it does not feel appealing (see the picture below, one of the highlights is the fact it’s a 70 cl bottle ). I believe something can be done to make it more user-friendly and appealing to people’s eyes

Overall I have a good perception of this update, it feels like the great tool to help you in your journey in the Rum Verse. It will take a bit of time to be totally adopted, but it feels good and somehow « complete » as a tool :slightly_smiling_face:

Should already be fixed in the next update :folded_hands:

The first example I thought was solved better before was the visualization and display of my own ratings given and also which rums I had rated was easier to read before because it was written in bold and I think blue, so a different color. Now that’s somewhat hidden for me to be honest.

What I on the other hand just discovered by chance, which will surely be appreciated by some, is the new section “my submitted rums” where you can check their status yourself. In my case all rums that have by now long since ended up in the app and database anyway, so I could actually delete them, but that’s not possible.

That is very cool! Thanks

I am really lost with the new design.

I am not finding stuff, there is too information displayed, which all looks the same. The layout is way too borderless, it is not clean enough imo. E.g. it was hard for me to figure out if I already tasted a rum or not and what rating I gave it. So hard to spot.

The aroma associations in the tasting section are not completely colored anymore, which makes it also look similar.

Completely overwhelmed :face_with_spiral_eyes: I hope I can get used to it.
